We ask ourselves a gut-check parenting question: if our kids copy our lives exactly as they look today, what parts would make us proud and what parts would worry us. We talk honestly about ambition, faith, failure, and the difference between being physically present at home and being mentally present with our families.
• pride in discipline, health, hard work, keeping our word, and lifelong learning
• faith as a daily anchor and a value we want our kids to see lived out
• concern about tying worth to achievement and chasing the next milestone nonstop
• the struggle to shut off our minds and truly show up at the dinner table
• teaching kids that failure is part of the process, not proof they are flawed
• the fine line between coaching and judgment, especially with our own kids
• learning our kids’ love languages and giving them grace the way we give others grace
• avoiding identity labels that turn “you are” into a child’s “I am”
• rebuilding after correction by naming specific positives and what is possible
